# Fan club promotion

A **Fan club promotion** is an in-chat banner that invites users to join a fan club. Show it to users who do not yet wear any club's logo, set how often they see it, and decide for how long the campaign runs.

Manage promotions under **Widgets → Fan clubs → Promotion**.

## What you configure

A promotion is one piece of creative shown across the chat. You need to set up three steps:

* A **banner** with an image, a title, and a description.
* A **button** with its own copy and colour.
* A **schedule** — for how long the campaign runs and how often the banner reappears for the same user.

All texts are entered per language and can be filled in once and translated automatically — see [language settings](https://docs.watchers.io/docs/languages-and-localisation).

## Create a promotion

1. Open **Widgets → Fan clubs**, then click **Promotion**.
2. Fill in the **Banner** section (the form has a tab per project language plus an **Auto-translate** button — fill it in for one language and translate the rest in one click):
   * **Banner image** — JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, SVG, or WebP. Up to 10 MB. The same image is used for every language.
   * **Title** — up to 23 characters.
   * **Description** — up to 140 characters.
3. Fill in the **Button** section:
   * **Button text** — up to 28 characters.
   * **Button colour** — pick a preset to set the button background and text colour in one tap.
4. Set the **schedule** under **How long the promotion lasts**:
   * **Unlimited** — the promotion runs from the moment you save it until you stop it.
   * **Custom** — pick **From** and **To** dates. The promotion is visible only inside that window.
5. Set the cadence in **Show the banner to users each … day (only those who didn't get the club's logo)** — enter a positive integer. Each user sees the banner at most once per that many days, and only while they have not yet joined any club.
6. Verify the **Promotion preview** pane on the right. The preview reflects the language tab you have open, so switch tabs to check translations.
7. Click **Save**. Watchers shows _"Promotion saved"_ (or _"Promotion has been updated"_ when editing).

You return to the Fan clubs page after saving. To edit the promotion later, open **Promotion** again — the existing values are loaded into the form.

## Who sees the banner

The banner is shown only to users who **do not currently wear any club's logo** — i.e. users who have not yet picked a favourite club in **Profile → My favourite club**. As soon as a user picks a club and wears its logo, the banner stops appearing for them.

Joining the fan club chat is not required: the moment the user wears a logo (even if they skipped _Join the club's chat_), the banner is gone. If the user later removes the logo from their profile, they become eligible for the banner again.

The cadence (the _each … day_ field) controls how often the banner reappears for the same eligible user. It does not affect users who have never seen it before.

The chat can be turned off on the admin panel — in this case, users will choose the club, display their favourite clubs' logos, without joining additional chats.

## Tips

* Save is disabled until you have a non-empty cadence, valid dates (when **Custom** is picked), and at least one filled-in language. The form blocks you, so you cannot publish a half-translated banner.
* **Custom** schedules are inclusive — both **From** and **To** dates count as active days.
* The button colour presets are the same set used for badges, so you can keep visual style consistent across engagement features.
